Celebrating Becky Turner

Today the Divas and I are celebrating our Diva Becky, who unexpectly left us last Friday.  Becky has been a pillar in our lives in so many ways - as a instigator, a creator, an educator, a mentor, a lover of all things vintage and mostly as our tablecloth sister.  Her vast dish knowledge has been the cornerstone of many budding collections, including my own.  There are a million comforting things I'd like to say now, but the sadness for this loss is still overwhelming.  Becky, you are a amazing woman and so very loved and are so very missed.  To Becky's family, even when struggling with my own grief, my heart aches even more for yours!  May your happy memories bring peace to your hearts.

My sisters Saarin, Becky, Daphne and Kathy celebrating in Nashville, July 2010

Please visit the other Divas, Candy at the The Little Round Table, Daphne at TableTop Time and Elaine at Dishing with Carafaye for other celebrations of our friend, Becky.

On this table are little momentos or symbols that represent everyone I love and I cherish.  The tablecloth is Wilendur from Elaine, the placesettings are Becky Blue Riviera, HLCCA Scarlet polka dot Fiesta salad plates, Chartreuse Fiesta Bread & Butter plates, blue flatware from Daphne, Dragonfly napkin rings from Melissa, which so perfectly represent all of the Dragon Fly sisters, including the one who has just left us; Fiesta marigold demitasse cups & saucers and wine goblets courtesy of HLC and the HLCCA from the 2011 Pittsburgh conference, finished off with Becky Blue Riviera shakers and Vintage Fiesta Medium Green shakers.  The serving spoon and fork were a gift from Rick Guizzotti via our Florida friend Marlene and a Becky Blue Harlequin teapot.  The flowers are from various neighbors' gardens.

Happy Birthday E!

Some know her as the Tablecloth Fairy and others refer to her as the Dish Fairy, and I'm lucky to call her my friend!

It's true I've been visited by both the Dish and Tablecloth Fairy and I credit Elaine with enabling my incredibly fun addiction to tablecloths, so I'm celebrating her today with this tablescape.  You can also visit another amazing celebration at Tabletop Time

Today is your birthday....

 Happy Birthday to You!

In honor of this special occasion, I'm using some of Elaine's favorites, contemporary Fiesta polka dot plates, paired with vintage ivory Fiesta, red Viking glassware and bamboo flatware (from the Flatware Fairy - yes we know her too!)

Set on a Calaprint Bamboo tablecloth she helped me find!

Happy Birthday Elaine!  I hope you have a fabulous day!

Wednesday Mexi-scape

While I have yet to find a tablecloth does not go well with my vintage or contemporary Fiesta, nothing seems more authentic than using a mexican themed cloth to take it up a notch.  I'm joining Candy from The Little Round Table and other fiesta collectors with their Mexi-scapes today.

Since I'm still enjoying the Wedding Scape on my table, I'll be sharing a few previous mexican themed tables I've set in the past:

This is a Wilendur Manjares tablecloth in the red colorway with my grandmother's/mom's vintage yellow and light green Fiesta, perfectly accompanied by the southern Arizona sunshine:

This is another Wilendure tablecloth, called Sarape, on my friend's table in Long Beach:

And finally, one of my earlier 'scapes.  An interesting combo of Contemporary Light Yellow and Turquoise Fiesta on this fun figural cloth:

Abbey and Donnie

Today I am celebrating Abbey and Donnie who are starting their new life together with a magical ceremony at Disney World!

I am joining Abbey's mom, Becky at Random Musings of a Deco Lady, along with our fellow tablescape divas, Candy at The Little Round Table, Daphne at TableTop Time and Elaine at Dishing with CaraFaye to send out best wishes for a blissful marriage!  I'm also joining my first Between Naps on the Porch event.

My part of the celebration begins with a fabulously fitting Florida tablecloth.  I'm using vintage ivory dinner plates mixed with contemporary fiesta in Ivory, Shamrock and Rose.  And of course, no Florida wedding scape would be complete without a few flamingos!

Abbey and Donnie - may you have joy and happiness all the days of your marriage.  Remember to cherish and nurture each other every day.

Congratulations to the proud parents, Becky and Mike!

Repurposing Tablecloths

I love tablecloths!  And I love making things from tablecloths.  This past week I found a pattern for a Runaround Bag by Lazy Girl Designs and made a few for some friends I was visiting in California.

This amazing pattern only took about an hour to put together.

Here are the bags in process:

Coffee and Fiesta

My absolute favorite vintage tablecloth brand/designer is California Hand Prints! Their designs are bold, whimsical and often unexpected. Today's table is covered with a fabulous coffee plantation design from my beloved CHP, and courtesy of my tablescape Diva, Daphne.

I'm using a combination of vintage and contemporary Fiesta in chartreuse, scarlet, ivory and shamrock. I've added in a vintage Fiesta chartreuse coffee pot,and filled a vintage chartreuse teacup and medium green sugar bowl with some red berries I found in my neighborhood. Fabulous wooden swirl flatware from my flatware fairy and some vintage red-stripped pilsners complete the ensemble.

Deep Blue Sea

I've been away from tablescaping for a bit due but I am excited to be back and creating with my tablescape sister Daphne from Tabletop Time.

This is my first monochrome table.  I prefer an explosion of color but this fabulous vintage variegated blue foliage cloth was begging to be transformed into an ocean of blue!  I am using my "new" vintage Homer Laughlin Riviera dishes in mauve blue with a vintage Fiesta cobalt 8" vase and bulb candle holders, topped off with sapphire votive holders.  The vintage dishes are paired with whimsical clear fish plates.  The flatware is an older Fiesta design by Cambridge Silversmith called Evita Mirror, the napkin rings are silver tone fish, the glasses and napkins are recent thrift store finds and help complete my deep blue sea.

Please drop by soon for some coffee.. We're sharing these tabletop oceans for Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Through Life.
